Hi! My name is Dilenia Ercilia Pereira, and I’m an Afro-Latina Illustrator who loves creating narrative work! Growing up, storytelling was all around me, and I loved that it took me away from reality. When it comes to Illustration, I have a passion for detailed art and patterns. They tell a story and the more you look at a piece, the better you can understand. I use relief printmaking and other mediums to enhance my reflections as a Dominican woman. The images that I create illustrate my lived experiences and honor my childhood love of cartoons and graphic novels. Through this style and approach, I’m healing old wounds and offering support to other Afro-Latinas who have similar perspectives. The line-work and patterns tell my story and who I am.
